Lori Gummow ~ Winnebago County Clerk

Honesty, Integrity & Fiscal Responsibility

Lori Gummow was elected Winnebago County Clerk in November of 2018 and sworn in that office in December of 2018. She ran on a promise to manage the merger of the Clerk’s office with the Recorders office. She has accomplished her mission and continues to improve the office including the elections operations where she is now deploying new computers and systems to protect our election integrity.

Lori has deep roots in Northern Winnebago County, growing up on the family farm. Over two decades ago Lori was the founding director of the organization Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful (KNIB). As the executive director of KNIB, she built the organization into an award-winning entity that focuses on recycling and keeping our environment and landfills free of toxic material.

Lori is a lifelong county resident and graduate of Rock Valley College. Lori also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Public Relations from the University of Northern Iowa and a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Leadership from Judson University.

Lori’s organizational and management experience coupled with her educational background makes her uniquely qualified to lead the Winnebago County Clerk & Recorder offices. The Clerk’s office is responsible for administering county elections, securing vital records, overseeing the calculation of taxes, and maintaining county board records. The Recorder’s office is responsible for recording over 150 different types of documents.

Lori’s future goals for the office of Winnebago County Clerk & Recorder include creating a greater awareness of the services that the offices provide as well as accelerating the online services that are being made available to Winnebago County citizens.
